In the evening of 30 April, the winners of the Estonian Film Awards o The Actress of the Century Award was given to Elle Kull and the Actor of the Century Award went to Lembit Ulfsak. The most notable film pair is Arno and Teele from the film “Kevade” (“Spring”), directed by Arvo Kruusement. In the categories of the best film music and film quote, “Viimne reliikvia” (“The Last Relic”) was victorious – the jury gave the highest prize to the music of the entire film as a whole (composer Uno Naissoo, lyrics Paul-Eerik Rummo) as well as to the quote “Freedom is our relic!” which has become a popular catchphrase. Animated Character of the Century is the girl dog Lotte, created by Janno Põldma, Heiki Ernits and Andrus Kivirähk.
The winners were awarded with the statuette of Johannes Pääsuke, made by the sculptor Simson from Seaküla. The winners were chosen by the jury made up of Jaak Lõhmus (head of the jury), Marianna Kaat, Merle Palmiste, Peep Pedmanson, Ülo Pikkov, Riina Roose, Peep Puks, Edith Sepp, Timo Steiner, Artur Talvik, Manfred Vainokivi and Hardi Volmer.
At the gala night hosted by Märt Avandi ja Ott Sepp, the President of the Republic Toomas Hendrik Ilves also announced the most beloved Estonian feature film which had been chosen via public vote –“Kevade” (“Spring”, 1969) by Arvo Kruusement.
